Counterfeiting
Any sale involving fake physical product. Although much of it occurs away from the online world, a large amount of online transaction happens on eCommerce and auction sites, via spam and on B2B marketplaces.
Cyberlocker / Filelocker
A website which offers huge amounts of storage space for users to upload their private files to. Primarily designed for storage and backup purpose, users have quickly discovered premium content � films, music, software, could be publically shared using specific download links. Cyberlockers now offer financial incentives to users for getting more downloads � this boosts the cyberlocker�s advertising revenue and also increases the number of users paying for the cyberlocker�s premium faster download services.
Grey Market Selling
Authentic products sold through unlicensed channels � grey market product is obtained through various channels, some legal, some illegal � like overproducing stock, which is undeclared to the licensee, through theft and fraud � which are commonly sold on ecommerce and auction sites. Parallel market trade can be particularly damaging when different regions are able to purchase grey market product ahead of official release, or at a very discounted rate.
Piracy
The sale or unlawful distribution of digital products, including music, film, business and gaming software and ebooks. Piracy usually involves an exact digital copy of the original file, made available through an alternative distribution channel, which provides no financial or otherwise reward to the original content makers and licensed distributor. This alternative distribution channel rewards the download sites and the users who upload the infringing material.
Torrents
A small file which stores data that interacts with P2P / Torrent software on a user's computer. The file tells the software at any one time how many people are connected and downloading the file, and allows the user to join the download.
UGC Sites
User Generated Content sites allow users to upload video and audio primarily, along with publishing material, to a central website, which stores and displays this content in a searchable index form, for other users to consume.
